Funeral of Caesar

Another painting from the collection of historical events. This time it is the funeral of Caesar. It is full of symbolism, movement and despair. These were obviously the result of the murder of this great Roman Dictator who was benevolent to the soldiers who fought with him, hero of the common people of Rome, but enemy of the aristocrats. The 'comic style' is still there as well as 'naive way' of drawing and the show of despair of the wailing women.
